How to Care for Your E-Bike Battery: Tips to Maximise Range & Lifespan
Your e-bike battery is the heart of your ride. With the right care, you can extend its lifespan significantly and keep your range at its best. Here's what every Urban Volt Cycles owner should know.
Charge Smart
Avoid letting your battery drop to 0% regularly. Lithium-ion batteries prefer to be kept between 20% and 80% charge for everyday use. Only charge to 100% when you need maximum range for a longer ride.
Store at the Right Temperature
Extreme cold or heat degrades battery cells. If you're not riding for a few weeks, store your battery indoors at room temperature with around 50–60% charge.
Use the Right Charger
Always use the charger supplied with your e-bike or an approved replacement. Third-party chargers can damage cells and void your warranty.
Keep It Clean and Dry
Wipe down the battery contacts with a dry cloth regularly. Avoid pressure washing directly at the battery housing, and always remove the battery before cleaning the frame.
Ride Regularly
Batteries that sit unused for months deteriorate faster. Even a short ride once a week keeps the cells active and healthy.
